Matthew Ott, AIF®, is President and co-owner of (K)Plans in St. Louis, where he helps companies design, implement, and manage their company-sponsored retirement plans. Matt joined Krilogy in 2024 and has more than 25 years of experience in financial services. He works with all types of plans, including 401(k), 403(b), 457, 401(a), defined benefit, and cash balance plans.
Matt spent 20 years of his career in the securities industry, consulting with Midwest companies on how to design and implement their retirement plans. Seeing a need for local, specialized advice, he acquired a 401(k) and 403(b) firm and continued to grow his client base. Before joining (K)Plans, he spent three years running his own defined contribution and defined benefit investment consulting firm, along with Pension and Retirement Services, a local third-party administration firm. He has also worked in personal financial planning, helping families pursue their goal of retiring on their own terms. Having worked on both sides, he understands retirement planning from the company’s perspective as well as the employee’s.
Matt’s focus is the company and its people. He knows the retirement plan is one part of a company’s total benefits package, and that a strong benefits package helps businesses attract and keep good talent. He helps companies make the most of that offering while staying on top of their fiduciary responsibilities. Matt holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, along with Series 7 and Series 65 securities licenses. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Personal Finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
