About Tom Ponce

Tom Ponce, CF2®, NSSA®, is a Senior Wealth Advisor at Krilogy in St. Louis, Missouri, who helps individuals and families approaching or already in retirement build plans they can count on. Tom joined Krilogy in 2026 and brings more than 13 years of experience in financial services and wealth management, a career he started right out of college.

Throughout his career, Tom has specialized in tax and investment strategy, insurance planning (including life insurance, long-term care, and annuities), and Social Security, income, and Medicare planning. That breadth helps him see how the pieces of a retirement plan fit together. He listens first, then builds each plan around a client’s concerns and priorities. Tom is a Certified Financial Fiduciary® (CF2®) and a National Social Security Advisor® (NSSA®). He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Marketing from Eastern Illinois University, where he played Division I golf on scholarship.

Tom has been recognized for his dedication to client service and his work in the financial services industry. He was named a Five Star Wealth Manager in both 2025 and 2026. For the 2025 award, 2,997 St. Louis-area wealth managers were considered and 176, approximately 6% of the candidates, were named Five Star Wealth Managers. In 2025, Tom was also selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who®, recognizing his professional background and accomplishments in financial services and insurance.

Why I became an advisor

As I was approaching my college graduation, my father was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer that cut his life far too short about nine months later. He ran a plumbing and electrical company in my hometown of Edwardsville, Illinois, with my mother keeping the books. While the business was well established and doing well, his sudden illness put a heavy burden on our family, both emotionally and financially. Going through that as I finished school made me realize I wanted to work in an industry where I could help my own family prepare for the future, and help other families do the same.

Working with me

I enjoy working with people who are approaching retirement or already there. I’ve worked in all facets of retirement planning throughout my career, so I understand the decisions that come with this stage of life. Together, we build a plan around what matters most to you, and I monitor that plan throughout our relationship. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident in your choices, with the peace of mind to enjoy your life the way you’ve envisioned it. I also want you to feel that our relationship is more than business, closer to a friendship, because I truly enjoy working with my clients on a personal level.

Outside the office

My wife, Cate, and I live in Creve Coeur, Missouri, with our two sons, Maverick and Crosby, and our yellow lab, Lute. I was born and raised in Edwardsville, Illinois, where the rest of my family still lives. When I’m not working, I love spending time with Cate and the boys, going out to dinner, hanging out with family and friends, and catching up on our favorite TV shows.

Golf is my favorite hobby. More than 10 years ago, I started an annual golf trip with a group of 28 friends, with the goal of playing golf destinations in all 50 states. Supporting cancer research is personal for me. For more than a decade, a friend and I have run a large annual golf tournament that benefits a cancer foundation, held in memory of my father and in honor of my friend, who battled cancer at a young age and beat it.
