Karen J. Maurer, CFP®, is a Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor at Krilogy in St. Louis, helping individuals, families, and multi-generational households navigate life’s financial complexities with clarity, confidence, and care. With more than 35 years in financial services, she has a special focus on supporting women through major life transitions, including retirement, widowhood, role changes, estate settlement, and business growth.
Karen has seen wealth management from nearly every angle. She started in client support, spending nine years as an administrator, then built and ran her own company and practice for more than 20 years before joining Krilogy in 2023. That range shapes the level of service her clients receive today. She holds degrees in finance and marketing from Marquette University, and in addition to her CFP® certification, she holds the Series 7, 24, 63, and 65 licenses and the SIE.
Karen takes a holistic, long-term approach, pairing investment management with the support of Krilogy’s tax, legal, and insurance professionals to build personalized, values-driven plans. Her goal is for every client to feel informed, secure, and aligned with their values. She is also an author, speaker, and frequent radio and podcast guest, and she shares insights for women at every life stage on her YouTube channel, @KarenMaurerAtKrilogy.
I love providing peace of mind. Money questions can feel overwhelming, especially in the middle of a big life change, and I find real satisfaction in taking something that feels complicated and making it simple. My role is to organize the options, explain them clearly, and guide my clients to a solution that fits their lives and their values. When a client walks away feeling confident about what comes next, that's the reason I do this work.
I especially love working with people who are preparing for retirement. Seeing someone through that transition, and then guiding them through their golden years with confidence and peace of mind, is some of the most rewarding work I do. Our first meeting starts with a simple question: What can I do for you? From there, it's a thoughtful, genuine conversation. I want to understand your needs and expectations, learn what brought you to this point, and hear what you have in store for your future, so we can build a plan around what matters most to you.
I grew up in St. Louis, and my parents, my brother, and his family all live close by. My husband and I have a beautiful blended family of eight children and 12 grandchildren, with more on the way. Most of our free time is spent hosting, whether that's one of my husband's home-cooked meals, a pool day, or a game of cards. And let's not forget our furry "children," Jet, Cricket, and Stella, who remind us who is really running the show at home.
When we're not at home reading or walking the dogs, my husband and I love to scuba dive and travel the world, seeking out unique, out-of-the-way dive destinations. Seven flights to get there is never too many, and I love the challenge of paying for as much of the trip as I can with points.
I'm part of the St. Louis Forum, Women Empowering Women, GRIT, and Little Black Book. I've also served on the Advisory Board of the St. Louis Crisis Nursery for more than 20 years, including a term as president, and I support Make-A-Wish, the American Heart Association, and pet rescue organizations.
